Food Photographer of the Year 2020: Winner - World Food Programme Food For Life

I’m thrilled (and somewhat shocked) to announce winning the 'World Food Programme Food For Life' category at this year's Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year Award!

There were nine thousand entries from across the globe and the standards, as ever, were exceptionally high. It was almost exactly a year ago that the winning photograph was taken in Uganda whilst on a trip with Tearfund. Being able to travel and shoot causes close to my heart is something I have dreamed of doing for a long time, so to win recognition for this is undoubtedly a career highlight for me. It's a privilege to be connected with the noble cause of the World Food Programme, too.

Should you wish to work with me on a similar project please don’t hesitate to get in touch - I’d love to do more of this kind of work!

I'll be posting a short blog post about Ugandan food and hospitality right here next week, but in the meantime, here’s the winning image, below. I'd also strongly recommend checking out the finalists gallery on the awards website to see the stunning images of other entrants.

It’s worth mentioning too that this kind of thing isn’t achieved on one’s own either - I have many people to thank for encouragement, inspiration and critique to help create photography that I love - the likes of my Dad, brother, Niall C, Paul V, Mark R and Terry P to name but a few. However, it’s also true that often it feels like it’s all uphill and you have to go through quite some opposition at times to achieve the results. But it’s worth it. Keep on keeping on folks. Soli Deo gloria. 👍👊🙏
